Are there any life lessons you’ve learned from your clients that have influenced your own personal growth?

The name of my private practice, Switchback Psychology, is actually inspired by a conversation I had with a previous client of mine, with permission of course! We were exploring how progress can feel in therapy... slow, and winding... bringing up thoughts like "Why am I not done with this? Why am I not better already?" My client said it was a lot like hiking, and looking up at a peak, and becoming frustrated with all the switchbacks in the path ahead of you. If you decide to cut corners, and try to march straight up, you'll probably fall, or at the very least, erode the earth and damage the plants. It can be frustrating, and take a long time, but winding your way up slowly is much more sustainable and healthy, for yourself, and others. I remind myself of this often, as I am not the most patient person!
